Job Title:          Middle School Classroom Assistant

                                                                       

Ridgeline seeks a classroom assistant for math/science classes in an established middle school program.

 

Job Description:         

The classroom assistant works in a mixed-age middle school classroom assisting the lead teacher with classroom management, math and science instruction, and assessment.  They are to help maintain a productive learning environment, supervise and support students in science and math, and act under the direction of the teacher. They also teach an elective. The classroom assistant works closely with the supervising teacher in creating a positive and empowering classroom community.

Required Qualifications:                     

·       Associate’s degree

·       Ease with math concepts up to high school geometry and Algebra II

·       Passion for science; understanding of physical and life sciences

·       Experience working with middle school aged youth

·       Experience working in an educational setting

·       Current First Aid/CPR certificate, or ability and willingness to obtain certification

·       Experience leading groups of adolescents in non-academic/extracurricular activities

·       Genuine respect for adolescents and a high degree of cultural competence

 

Desired Qualifications:

·       Fluency in a second language, preferably Spanish

·       Degree (or minor) in math or science

·       Love of outdoors

Ridgeline seeks a classroom assistant for a Montessori kindergarten classroom.

 

Job Description:         

The classroom assistant works in a kindergarten classroom assisting the Montessori Teacher with classroom management and instruction.  S/he is to help maintain order in the classroom, supervise and support students, and act under the direction of the Teacher.  The classroom assistant works closely with the teacher in creating a positive classroom environment.

Minimum Qualifications:                      

·       Associate degree required

·       Experience working with kindergarten-aged children

·       Experience working in an educational setting required, Montessori setting preferred

·       Current First Aid/CPR certificate, or ability and willingness to obtain certification

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Montessori training
  • Bachelors degree

 

Preference will be given to candidates with a Montessori 3-6 credential

Title:  PE Instructor

Job Summary:           

Late morning/afternoon classes, .35 FTE 

Ridgeline Montessori seeks a Physical Activity/Physical Education Specialist to provide structured, noncompetitive, full-participation, energetic and engaging physical education classes.  The goal of physical education at Ridgeline is to help children develop:

o Positive social interactions 

o Expressive and skillful movement

o Pure enjoyment of physical activity 

o Healthy habits and fitness for life

o Improved self-management, mindfulness and awareness  

The Physical Activity/PE Specialist designs and leads physical activities for K-8 students.   The successful candidate understands the developmental needs and abilities of children ages 5-15 years old.  They will be able to manage a group of 29 students so that all are active almost all of the time (and out of breath)! They may alternately lead yoga, dance, or martial arts activities. The activities will be fully inclusive for students of mixed-ages and mixed abilities.  The classroom climate will be one where students feel safe to take reasonable risks, encourage each other, try new things, and develop new skills.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated ability to work with large groups of children ages 5-15

Excellent behavior management techniques

Solid plan for differentiated physical activities

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

o Teaching license with PE endorsement (just preferred, not required)

o Experience working in a school setting


This position is 14 hours per week (.35) and pays $25.00/hr.

Job Title: Upper Elementary Teacher, Applicant Pool

Job Description

Summary: The teacher is responsible for curriculum, classroom management, parent relations, and special services. The teacher has an interest in the whole school as well as her/his own classroom. There are three upper elementary classrooms at Ridgeline, each serving 29 4th-6th grade students.  

Please note: This is a posting for an applicant pool, not for an immediate opening.

Each of the three upper elementary teachers at Ridgeline has a full-time classroom assistant in her/his classroom.

Starting Salary: $31,705 - $38,000 DOE + benefits and full-time classroom assistant.

Required Qualifications:
  • Montessori credential or Oregon teaching license
  • Experience teaching elementary school students
  • Understanding of child development and the Montessori philosophy
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Montessori Elementary I-II training, and/or
  • Montessori training in early childhood, and/or
  • Experience as an assistant in a Montessori classroom
