Parent Education Presentation -

posted Apr 5, 2019, 2:42 PM by Cynthia Friedman

Join us for a Montessori parent education presentation “Brave Spaces” with Luz Casquejo on Thursday, April 4. In this presentation and facilitated discussion, we'll talk about the development of racial and ethnic identity and intersectionality (gender, race, religion, ability, socio-economic status and other identities) in the context of Dr. Montessori's concepts of the Planes of Development and the Spiritual Embryo.  We'll end with some tools for creating brave spaces that allow children to engage in these topics in a way that will support the development of all aspects of their identity.

Dr. Luz Casquejo Johnston is returning to Ridgeline to provide another engaging parent education night. This time the topic is how to make space and find authentic ways to have difficult conversations within our families and within our communities.

Dr. Luz Casquejo Johnston is the Program Director for the Montessori Teacher Education Program at Saint Mary's College of California which offers both Early Childhood and an Lower Elementary/Upper Elementary credential. She has experienced every facet of Montessori life - student, parent, lower elementary guide, director(principal) and now program director. Her greatest joy has been raising her children in the Montessori way and watching them become thoughtful, purposeful young adults.
