Waiting on the Sidewalk - We are thrilled to see so many parents out front at pick up visiting with each other while waiting for their students. Please be aware of classrooms walking to dismissal areas, and leave a clear pathway for classes to walk along the sidewalk. Meridy’s class in particular is having challenges getting to their designated pick up area which is past the kindergarten pick up zone.

Board "Retreat" this Saturday - The Ridgeline Board of Directors will have it's fall work session and planning meeting this Saturday at the school from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. We plan to devote the morning to conversations about charter renewal and equity. In the afternoon, we will be working on developing goals and plans for continued work on financial policies, salary and benefits, and facilities, as well as determining committee assignments for the year. As this is a work session, no final decisions will be made on Saturday. The Board's first regular meeting will be Thursday, September 19, 2019. All board meetings are open to the public except for portions of the meeting designated as executive sessions. You can contact the full board at

T-shirt orders deadline extended! - T-shirt orders will be due Friday, September 20th. Sample sizes are now available in the lobby.

  • Order pictures online at Ridgeline’s picture day ID is: FO529174Y0

  • You may also order pictures online up to two days after picture day.

  • If your student is absent for picture day, or you do not like the photos, re-takes will be available on Wednesday, October 23rd. Original picture packages must be returned.

Classroom Meetings - All classrooms will host evening meetings in the next couple of weeks (Rachel’s meeting is tonight!). Teachers will be sending out classroom newsletters starting this week, and you should receive an update every two weeks.  If you do not receive communication from your child’s teacher this week, please contact them. Teacher email links can be found on the Ridgeline website or use the following format:

When can I visit my child's classroom?

The short answer is: October 16th.

The longer answer is that Montessori classrooms undergo an initial period of "normalization," the time it takes for the classroom to really begin humming.  Maria Montessori remarked that the defining characteristic of a normalized Montessori classroom is joy! We want to give this characteristic time to develop.  For most classrooms, the process takes about six weeks (although I'm seeing quite a bit of joy already)! During this time, children are learning the rhythms of the classroom, how to function as a community, and how to flow as individuals within the group.  It's an important time, and Ridgeline protects the time by limiting observations and visits. Please trust the process! Trust that your child will benefit from the independent time, and trust the wonderful, caring adults in Ridgeline's classrooms.

Come mid-October, you can contact your child's classroom teacher to set up a time to volunteer or just visit for a joyful classroom experience!

Join Our Facebook Group! - There are two options for connecting on facebook:

  1. Ridgeline Montessori Public Charter School has a closed group on facebook that you are all welcome to join!  Once you join, you can choose to receive notifications and/or to post. Posts include information about school events, inclement weather, opportunities for kids and families in the community, informal get-togethers, thoughts about education—basically anything of interest to our families.

  2. Ridgeline Montessori Public Charter School also has a separate facebook page that you are welcome to “like.”  This facebook page connects Ridgeline to the larger community and supporters of Montessori education.
