End of the Year Volunteer Needs - The end of the year is rapidly approaching!  We need help with the rummage sale, field day, fridge cleaning, and summer watering. There are 26 volunteer slots on Track it Forward alone, and that does not count summer watering or fridge cleaning!  Please scroll down to continuing news and sign up to help! You can also email Cynthia if that is easier!

PLEASE Log Your Hours - Please take time to log your volunteer hours if you are not currently up to date. Accurate volunteer hours are important as it shows community support for the school. Volunteer hours are reported in grant applications and to our sponsoring district as part of our annual review. We greatly appreciate you sharing your valuable time and we really want to report it accurately!

End of the Year Picnic - Join us for the end of year picnic on Wednesday, June 12, 5:30-7 p.m. Bring a blanket and a picnic dinner for your family. Sit on the lawn; visit with old friends and make new ones.

Plastic Bags - If you shop in Springfield and have any plastic shopping bags that you don’t need, we would love to have them for students to take home papers, etc. at the end of the school year. Please drop off plastic bags at the office.

Class Placement Email - Parents who have concerns after move-up day can submit their concern to placement@ridgeline.org.  In the fall, a committee will meet to see if there have been any changes in first or fourth grade enrollment.  If there have been any changes, they may review requests at that time.

Site Council Seeking Parent Feedback -  Site Council will be approving the 2019-20 school calendar this Monday, June 3rd.  An item on the calendar is scheduling the two no-school days in November for parent teacher conferences.  4J has scheduled these no school days for Thursday, November 7th and Friday, November 8th (parent/teacher conferences). Veteran’s Day is Monday, November 11th. For the past 4 years, Ridgeline has scheduled conferences on or near Halloween, which parents and teachers have appreciated (however this would likely make finding childcare difficult).  If you have a strong opinion regarding when conferences are scheduled, please email sitecouncil@ridgleine.org.


FOOD For Lane County food drive - Some of our Ridgeline middle-schoolers have organized a food drive for our local food bank, FOOD For Lane County. Bins for non-perishable food items will be placed in the office on Monday, June 3rd and stay there until the last day of school, Friday, June 14th. If you are able, please send your child to school with something to donate sometime in those two weeks.

Foods to Donate:

  • Canned meats (tuna, chicken, salmon, corned beef)

  • Low-sugar fruit, dried fruit, jams and jellies, unsweetened apple sauce

  • Canned and dried beans (pinto, navy, kidney, refried)

  • Canned stew, chili, hearty soups and broth

  • Pasta, rice, cereal, corn meal

  • Cooking oil and olive oil

  • Canned tomato products (whole, paste, spaghetti sauce)

  • Spices and sauces (mole, enchilada sauce, cumin, chili's).


CONTINUING NEWS -

End of year Kitchenette/Fridge Cleaner - We would love to have a volunteer come clean the kitchenette and the refrigerators on the last day of school. Contact Cynthia to volunteer.


Summer Watering – If you live in the neighborhood and have time to help water the outdoor plants (and get volunteer hours!) at Ridgeline over the summer, please email our summer watering coordinator Michael Thorne at Michaelthorne151@outlook.com

Field Day – Ridgeline’s annual field day will take place on Wednesday, June 12th. PE teacher Dan Trent will be leading the day’s events 12:30-2:30 p.m. Students are put into mixed aged groups k-6. Staff takes groups to stations around the school grounds. We need a team of parent volunteers to run activity stations and face paint. We also need watermelon donations and slicers! Watermelons - We need a dozen watermelons for Field Day. Sign up to bring a watermelon here. Please bring your watermelon on Tuesday, June 11.

Jog-a-thon Co-lead - Ridgeline’s beloved annual jog-a-thon is looking for a co-lead for the fall 2019 event. Parent Matt Peterson has lead the jog-a-thon the past few years and he is looking for someone to work alongside him and learn how this event works. We have been doing the jog-a-thon for many years and it is very well laid out. Contact Cynthia for more information and to volunteer. The jog-a-thon is scheduled for the end of September.

Ridgeline's Annual Rummage Sale - will be Saturday, June 8th!  Hold on to your unwanted items when spring cleaning this season!  Furniture, books, bikes, household items, shoes and clean clothing are always big hits with the shoppers!  Please avoid dropping off items including particle board furniture, car seats, baby cribs, unassembled furniture, or broken items, as we are unable to have these items picked up by local thrift stores and actually need to pay money to drop them at the dump.  We will be accepting donations Friday, June 7th (no school day) from 8:00-12:00 and 1:00-6:00 in the gym.  The actual Rummage Sale will be on Saturday, June 8th between 9:00-3:00.  Come shop, support, or say hi! Supply Fee 2019-20 PAST DUE –  There are still many outstanding supply fees. The fee is $75 per student. Please make checks out to Ridgeline Montessori and drop them off in the office or pay online by clicking HERE. For bookkeeping purposes we need either the fee or a financial aid form. Financial assistance forms are also available in the lobby or online.
