Grading Day Calendar Change Reminder - Please note that the June, no school grading day will be Friday, June 8th, not Monday, June 4th. Site Council approved this change earlier in the year.


Chair Repair Volunteer - The pile of chairs needing repair has become quite impressive! We are in need of an ongoing chair repair volunteer who can periodically check out broken chairs and repair the ones that can be salvaged. Contact Cynthia to volunteer.


Fence Bending Volunteer - There is a portion of the back and front fences that we need a volunteer to use large pliers to bend back the top section. This is a great after hours/weekend volunteer job. Contact Cynthia to volunteer and to get exact location details. Volunteer will need to supply their own tools.


Bike and Walk to School End of Month Raffle - Please remind your students if they have been walking and biking this month, and using the month long punch card, to turn in their punch cards to the office by Tuesday morning June 5th. We will have the raffle that day. In order to be included in the raffle all punch cards must be in by noon on Tuesday. There will be one raffle item per classroom.


Dance-a-thon Update - A huge thank you to Andrea Olson and Shea Baker for putting on our first ever dance-a-thon. It was a super fun evening and nice to see so many families participate. There was lots of dancing and ice cream eating and visiting going on! Thank you to all the volunteers who helped the evening run smoothly.


Dance-a-thon Pledges - Now is the time to collect your dance-a-thon pledges. Help us reach our $100,000 fundraising goal for the year! Turn in pledge envelopes to the office.


BoxTops Volunteer Needed 2018-19 School Year - Thank you to Lynne Lucas, a community member, who has been our BoxTop coordinator the past several years. We so appreciate all the work that Lynne has done. We are now looking for a new coordinate for the BoxTops for Education program. The coordinator promotes the program by sending Cynthia write ups for the eNews, posts on facebook, etc. They also process the BoxTops and mail them in.  Lynne is happy to train the new volunteer. This is a great mostly at-home volunteer job. Contact Cynthia to volunteer.


Site Council and RCO Minute Takers 2018-19 - We have two open minute taking positions available for next year. Minute taking is a great way to get involved and learn all about the inner workings of Ridgeline. The Site Council meets one Monday per month 6-7:30pm and the RCO meets once per month on Tuesdays 6-7:30pm. Contact Cynthia if you are interested in being a minute taker!


Employment Opportunity - Ridgeline seeks a classroom assistant for an established Montessori upper elementary classroom for the 2018-19 school year.

Job Description:         

The classroom assistant works in a mixed-age (4th-6th grade) elementary classroom assisting the Montessori teacher with classroom management and instruction.  S/he is to help maintain order in the classroom, supervise and support students, and act under the direction of the teacher.  The classroom assistant works closely with the lead teacher in creating a positive classroom environment.

Qualifications:            

·       Associate’s degree required

·       Experience working with elementary aged children (9-12 years old)

·       Experience working in an educational setting required, Montessori setting preferred

·       Current First Aid/CPR certificate, or ability and willingness to obtain certification

CONTINUING NEWS -

Class Placement 2018-19 Update - We know that you are all super excited to find out your student’s class placement for the upcoming school year. Please be patient, there are only 10 school days left to wait. Class placement slips will be handed out at the end of the school day on Thursday, May 31. No early placement information will be given out.


Ems Game Tickets - Ridgeline will be the featured non profit at the Eugene Emeralds game on Saturday, June 16th, 7:05 p.m. Kindergarten will sing the national anthem and Emily’s class will sing O Canada. Tickets for Ridgeline families will be grouped in a section. Tickets are $12, with $4 going back to the school. If we sell more than 200 then $6 of the price will go back to the school. Tickets sales are online this year. August Mailing - If you have moved over the school year please update your address at the office. In August we will be mailing the back-to-school packet and if we do not have the correct mailing address you will miss out on crucial back to school information! In order for us to update your address, in the computer system, we need two proofs of address – a lease or mortgage AND a utility bill, document from a financial institution, insurance company, government agency, or pay stub.


MANY VOLUNTEER NEEDS - We are in the home stretch of volunteerland folks! Volunteers are needed for the Rummage Sale June 8 and 9th, Field Day, June 12th and for summer watering. Please read the information below and sign up!


Rummage Sale to benefit Ridgeline Montessori June 9th! – Ridgeline’s annual Rummage Sale is coming up Saturday, June 9th. Many volunteers are needed on Friday, June 8th to receive and sort donations! Volunteers also needed to hang signs and work during the sale. Field Day – Ridgeline’s annual field day will take place on Tuesday, June 12th. PE teacher George Cox will be leading the day’s events. In an attempt to create more universal fun we are structuring things a little differently this year. There will be two field day sessions – 9:15-11:15 for kinder and lower-el and a second session 12:30-2:30pm for upper-el. There will be 8 stations around the school grounds where student groups will rotate through in 15 minute increments. We need a team of parent volunteers to run activity stations and face paint. Employment Opportunity – Ridgeline seeks a part-time facilities coordinator to direct and perform the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the facilities, equipment, and grounds of Ridgeline Montessori Public Charter School, in consultation with the executive director.  Duties include developing short and long-term maintenance plans, managing contracts with outside vendors, recommending improvements and establishing priorities with respect to the facilities and grounds.
