What’s Your Ridgeline Story? – As we prepare for charter renewal we are seeking letters of support to share with the 4J board and district leadership. What do you love about Ridgeline?  How are we positively impacting your child’s life? Please share your story by emailing stories@ridgeline.org by November 18. If you missed last week’s email, please read the Big Works 2019-20 Issue #6 about Ridgeline’s charter renewal.

Planned Absence – As the holidays approach it is tempting to take a few extra days off from school. Please avoid planned absences whenever possible. Planned absences can add up and may lead to chronic absenteeism. We sincerely want all our students to benefit from all the learning opportunities that regular attendance provides.
Some life situations are unavoidable; if you must take a planned absence, please fill out the planned absence request form for review by Principal Michelle. Planned Absence Request Form

Weekend Volunteer Opportunity – Marketplace needs a team of volunteers. At Marketplace, students and community members sell their crafts and creations and donate a portion of the proceeds to their school. This is a rare weekend volunteer opportunity. Click here to take you to the Track it Forward events page. Scroll down to see Marketplace volunteer needs. Volunteers are needed before and during the event.

COMMUNITY NEWS

Let’s Talk! Student Success Act: Investments for Success – New funding is coming to 4J schools. Oregon’s Student Success Act is expected to provide Eugene School District 4J about $12–13 million per year, starting with the 2020–21 school year—about a 5% increase in the district’s general fund budget.

The district is engaging staff, families, and community members to inform the planning for how to spend these funds to best support student success. The funds must be targeted to increase academic achievement, reduce disparities among student groups, and meet students’ behavioral and mental health needs. You’re invited to join the conversation.
