Pasta Dinner Planning – Our annual Pasta Dinner is just around the corner. A planning meeting is scheduled for next Thursday, January 24, at 9 a.m. here at the school. If you are interested in helping with the planning, but are unable to attend this meeting, contact Cynthia. Stay tuned as we will also need many helpers on the morning of February 22, to set up the gym, slice bread, make garlic butter, and dressing, and during the event that evening. Volunteer sign ups will start next week.

Middle School Information Session - Wondering About Ridgeline’s Middle School? – 5th and 6th grade parents and students are invited to a Ridgeline Middle School Information Session with teachers Jon Labrousse and Carrie Culliton. Learn all about what Ridgeline’s Middle School has to offer, Thursday, January 24, 7:10 p.m. in the Middle School classroom.

LAST CHANCE to order those beautiful dark maroon/silver Ridgeline T-SHIRTS AND SWEATSHIRTS.  Did you miss the fall order for t-shirts, long sleeve t-shirts, pullovers and zip hoodies? Don’t fret, you get another chance!  Orders are due by February 4th. We will not be making exceptions for late orders, so if you want a t-shirt or sweatshirt, please get your order in to the office by February 4th. Branch Volunteer Help Needed - Dan Trent, our PE specialist and facilities coordinator, is looking for volunteers to help him cut up and haul away branches from the school grounds. One possible time is Friday, January 25th after school. Please contact Dan to arrange a time to help.  

Board Membership Update - Last month, the Ridgeline board welcomed a new member, April-Kay Williams. April-Kay is the co-owner of Zora Montessori in west Eugene and a Montessori teacher.  She has organized successful workshops and events on education, environment, and socioeconomic inequities. We are excited to add this powerful advocate for public Montessori to our board. Welcome April-Kay!

Are you interested in serving on the Ridgeline Board? If so, please join us for a board meeting anytime or speak to a current board member  The board is looking for certain professional skills (i.e., public relations, finance, fundraising, law) and for a diversity of voices and thought leaders. Board membership is by application to, then election by the sitting board. Elections are held at our May business meeting. Not quite sure? There are a number of ongoing board projects that could use a helping hand and would provide an introduction to board work without the immediate formal commitment. January is School Board Recognition Month and Ridgeline Montessori Public Charter School wishes to express our deep gratitude to our board of directors for their dedicated leadership and commitment to our students and public Montessori education.  Each member of Ridgeline's seven-member board contributes countless hours to governing our school. Above and beyond that they are active and engaged community members who volunteer on the fundraising committee, attend RCO and Site Council meetings, write thank you notes, help with events, serve on hiring committees, lead middle school electives and so much more!  Collectively, our board members have served Ridgeline with more than 25 years of outstanding vision and leadership.

Even though we are making a special effort during January to show appreciation for our school board members, we recognize their contributions reflect a year-round effort on their part. They are dedicated individuals who are committed to improving student achievement and to fighting for the best for all of our students. Thank you, Ridgeline Board of Directors!!!

Amazon Parkway Closure - Amazon Parkway will be closed to all traffic starting Monday, January 21. The closure will impact both southbound and northbound lanes, between 19th and 24th avenues, and could last until February 7. Drivers should expect delays as they travel around the work zone and plan accordingly.

The closure will allow for the installation of needed infrastructure at the old Civic Stadium site. Crews will need to remove the road, install wastewater lines and remove the pedestrian crossing over Amazon Parkway.

Detours will be in place for drivers and are as follows:

  • Northbound traffic – turn west onto East 24th Avenue and north onto Willamette Street

  • Southbound traffic – turn east onto East 19th Avenue and south onto Patterson Street

The closure will be in place 24-hours a day as crews work to safely remove the bridge and install the new sewer lines. The road will be open as soon as the work is completed.

Amazon Path will not be impacted as part of this construction. Crews will eventually install a street crossing at street level in place of the bridge, however that work is not planned as part of the closure.

Shoe Drive Fundraiser - Thank you for your donations and support!  This past week we collected LARGE containers of donated shoes from our boxes at Oakway Center, Nike, Run Hub and Eugene Running Company - and that's just after the first week! We also have boxes at UO Duck Store, LTD, and Windermere Real Estate!  In fact, we've been so overwhelmed with donations in the past few days, that we haven't had a chance to count and bag everything yet! But it looks like we're already at least 20% of the way to our goal of 100 bags (each bag holds 25 pairs of shoes). This week’s action: Think of an office, business, club, or community group that you could ask to collect shoes on our behalf?  The more people we ask, the more shoes we can collect and the more money we can raise for Ridgeline!


Talent Show – On January 25, from 6-8 p.m., Ridgeline students will rock your socks off! Last year’s event was a great success—we had musical acts, fly fishing, and tumbling, just to name a few! A volunteer will go around Friday to give the kids talent show guidelines, and a sign-up sheet will be posted on the bulletin board in the lobby. This year we need someone who can help run the sound booth and we will need help putting out chairs after school and putting away chairs after the event. Questions can go to Kate Downing. Conferences - Teachers have set aside this time to meet with you! Please remember to sign up for you conference. Conferences are January 31, and February 1 (no school days)! We are excited to connect with you regarding your student’s progress and will be holding conferences instead of sending out mid-year report cards.  Sign up for a conference time that works for you. Conferences will begin promptly with whomever is present and end at the scheduled time.  Middle school families should refer to teacher updates for additional information.

Speed Limit Reduced - Please note that the speed limit on East and West Amazon has been reduced to 30 mph starting this week. We appreciate the city taking measures to help ensure the safety of everyone who uses this corridor. For more information click here.

Lottery Information Session Childcare Volunteers Needed - Volunteers (with green badges) are needed to assist with childcare for the Lottery Information Session on Saturday, January 24. Volunteer here.

Help Promote Ridgeline! - Ridgeline’s Information Sessions and 2019-2020 lottery will be held earlier this year. We need your help to promote Ridgeline and our Information Sessions which will take place in January 2019. Poster hanging volunteers are needed. We have a list of places to hang posters and the posters are now available in the office for you to pick up. Contact Cynthia or stop by the office to sign up for locations and take posters. Spread the word about Ridgeline and lottery dates to friends and family!

COMMUNITY NEWS -                                                                                          

Xcape Dance Academy -

Tuesdays and Thursdays, AFTER SCHOOL from 3:15 - 4:15 (we usually allow 10 minutes for kids to get into the gym, have a snack if they want, etc.)

-Pickup is promptly at 4:15 from the gym.

-Class starts the week of January 7th

-Class will be taught by Drea Smith, professional dancer, instructor, and parent of a Ridgeline student!

-Kids must register for 2 days per week. No one day per week options. $80/ month for the class.

-Parents must register their kids online at where they will create an

account for their student and sign up for class. You can also call us at 541-912-1140 to register.

Payment for classes is due before the start date. You can pay online or send check/ cash with

your student on the first day of the session.

-Class session ends at Spring Break.

-A final performance opportunity will be provided!
