Sharon's Weekly Update 6-6-17

Hello, Room 9 families!

A huge THANK YOU to all of our parents who drove to Aprovecho farm: Phil, Thea, Aaron, Melanie, Mandy, and Tom. The field trip was great! Our students learned about composting toilets and cob building. If you are interested in learning more about cob building, please contact me.... I'm hoping to pursue it further next year.

Speaking of which, I am so excited about next year! Move-up day was amazing. We have a great group of 4th graders coming to Room 9!

Welcome to the final two weeks of school. Here's an official update on the TEN DAY COUNTDOWN:

JUN 7 (Wed): INTERNATIONAL FOOD DAY. Students may bring international foods from home to share with the group. Please send ingredients lists and/or packaging for any food your student brings to the classroom.
JUN 8 (Thurs): Movie day - we will watch a movie in the afternoon!
JUN 9 (Fri): PET DAY. Students are invited to bring a PHOTO or VIDEO of their pet, or a STUFFED ANIMAL to introduce to the group. No live pets, please. We may walk to Tugman Park for lunch.

JUN 12 (Mon): Forts and reading day. Students who have finished their portfolio work will spend all day reading in blanket forts! Students who are still working on their portfolio will still have opportunity to participate in the afternoon. Please bring blankets and books from home.
JUN 13 (Tues): Game day! Students may bring their favorite game to play with their friends. Weather permitting, we may play some outside games as well. (EVENING: All school picnic!)
JUN 14 (Wed): FIELD DAY and UNBIRTHDAY TEA PARTY. Please let me know if your student would like to bring tiny sandwiches, cookies or fruit for the tea party. Each student should bring his or her own mug from home.
JUN 15 (Thurs): Room 9 overnight!
JUN 16 (Fri): Flash mob, pancakes and Last Day of School

I still need AT LEAST ONE PARENT VOLUNTEER for the overnight on Jun 15-16. Chaperones should plan to be at school from 7pm to 7am.

Have a great week!
