Sharon's Weekly Update 6-3-167

Hello, Room 7 families!

Thank you so much to the parents who drove on our field trip to the Hayden Bridge Water Treatment Center. The students learned a lot and enjoyed their trip.

On Wednesday, we began our TEN DAY COUNTDOWN to the end of school! Wednesday was Song Day, where students chose the classroom playlist for the day. Thursday is Blanket Fort Day, and students are working in the classroom inside of blanket forts.

Friday is MOVE-UP DAY! Students are invited to join their Fall 2016 classroom for a fun activity. Room 7 is excited to welcome upcoming 3rd graders to the classroom for a sneak preview into next year. Rising 7th grade students will be hiking with the middle school, while students who are moving to a new school will spend the morning with Diana. If your student is hiking, please send your student with appropriate shoes and water.

Room 7 students are nearly finished with their portfolios. Please CHECK WITH YOUR STUDENT to see if he or she needs time and space to complete portfolio work at home. This work should be a demonstration of what students know, so they should be able to complete the prompts with minimal assistance. I am so excited by the quality of their finished work -- please contact me to stop by the classroom and see the portfolios!

Next week, look for the following Countdown items:

MONDAY (Day 7): Cooking day! Students will be preparing snacks in the classroom.

TUESDAY (Day 6): Outside day! Students will work and play outside as much as possible. If your student has seasonal allergies, please make sure that they are prepared for this. We will also have a visit from the Solar Energy Education Station.

WEDNESDAY (Day 5): Game day! Students may bring a board game from home to share with the class.
