Seventh Grade Students - Canopy Connections Field Trip

Canopy Connections Field Trip will take place on May 11th.  It is important that your student arrive NO LATER THAN 7:15 AM.

Students are to wear layers. We will go rain or shine.  Please have your student pack a water bottle, and prepare a hearty sack lunch.  Microwaves will not be available.

We will be back at Ridgeline by 4:30 PM.

Permission Forms and waivers are DUE FRIDAY, April 28th.  If your child uses an inhaler or epipen, etc. they must have them with them, or they will not be allowed to climb the tree.

A great time will be had by all!

Life Science

The kids are really enjoying our genetics unit.  Students gathered into pairs,  donated one allele each for eight different genes, and created a model of a rice plant called a Reeze-ot.  From this we learned how dominant and recessive alleles of a genotype interact to create visible traits (phenotypes).  We moved on to studying Mendel, and how he used the scientific method to study inheritance in pea plants.  Ask your students what heterozygous and homozygous genotypes are, and the difference between true breeding and hybrid organisms.  We will deepen our knowledge of these new concepts as we continue this unit.  Next we make Punnett Squares!
