Hello, Room 7 families!

This has been a busy week for all of us. In addition to state testing, we are also preparing for Project Fair, working on the Read-A-Thon, and participating in Human Growth and Development class. More details below!

SMARTER BALANCED TESTING will continue through mid-May. This week, students have been working hard to finish their English / Language Arts tests, including reading comprehension, listening skills, vocabulary and writing. Please make sure your student is getting enough sleep and breakfast on test days.

PROJECT FAIR is next Tuesday, April 26. Classrooms are open from 3:15 - 4:15 and from 6-7pm. Please plan to attend with your student to see our class' insightful projects!

SIXTH GRADE PROJECTS are almost completed for this year. I am so excited to see our 6th year students presenting their Big Projects at Project Fair. Students may need to use the weekend to complete any grammar edits and finish their bibliographies... we should be turning in final drafts by Project Fair on Tuesday.

The READ-A-THON is currently in full swing! Students received their packets last week and should be completing their reading activities at home and in the classroom. The Read-A-Thon will end on 4/29 with an all-school assembly to celebrate reading. Pledge money is due back to school by May 10. Please send your student to school in the mornings with an idea of their current progress toward the class goal of 1,218 tasks -- we will use the information to fill our jar with beads!

Our first HUMAN GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT class was an amazing time! Students asked excellent questions, participated respectfully in discussion, and took good notes. Please ask your student about his or her learning. 6th year students will be expanding on their learning by self-study of age-appropriate library books and classroom materials on the reproductive system. Students will have their last class on April 28.

Thank you so much!
