Sharon's Weekly Update 2-18-16

posted Feb 18, 2016, 12:04 PM by Cynthia Friedman

Hello, Room 7 families!

We had a wonderful field trip yesterday to Oregon State University to visit the ice core and sediment core labs. Students were invited to examine sediment under a microscope and melt 50,000 year old ice in their hands. A huge thank-you to Shula, Kellie, Shane, Meredith, Eileen and Eduardo for being available to drive and chaperone. You are amazing!

This week, we have a second visit from the SPICE science fair representatives from the University of Oregon, who will be teaching us how to make the best paper airplane. Room 7 students will also be learning how to work with Google Docs with their BRAND NEW Ridgeline email accounts this week, which will allow them to access their writing from any computer with internet access! Thank you, Kayla!

Please join us for the pasta dinner this Friday, Feb. 19, at 5pm. In addition to performances from the middle school ukelele group, we will also be featuring a student marketplace, pasta bowls for auction, and special decorations from Emily's classroom. Come support Ridgeline and enjoy some amazing pesto.

If you are interested in finding out more about the MIDDLE SCHOOL program, please join us on Feb. 27 at 10:45am to hear from Jon and Carrie and have your questions answered. Montessori middle school uniquely prepares students for real-world experiences, and I hope you will plan to attend.

I am in the classroom on Friday from 1:15-1:30 if you would like to stop by and chat about your student's work!
