Sharon's Weekly Update 1-4-17

In our last episode, Room 9 students were poised and ready to dissect and mummify a dead bird when they were TRAPPED IN THEIR HOMES BY A GIANT ICE STORM! All of the students' lovely plans to explore ancient cultures, watch a movie and have a pajama day were foiled by the storm! SO... this week, we will reintegrate into the classroom with those plans: we'll be finishing our timeline, beginning a mummy, and writing plays about our storm experiences. Students should plan to (optionally) wear pajamas on Friday and watch Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

This month is full of special events and new experiences. We are entering our second trimester of art with DANCE CLASS on Fridays. Between now and June, students will have the opportunity to try two different types of dance. In mid-January, Room 9 will begin working with ARCHITECTS IN SCHOOLS to learn about the architecture of ancient cultures from professional architects, who will visit the classroom to share their expertise. Finally, we will begin talking about simple machines and their contribution to ancient building practices.

On FRIDAY, JAN 13th, Ridgeline is pleased to host Grandperson's Day! If your grandperson has not yet reserved a space in the classroom, please encourage them to call the office for space availability.
