Academics
This week students began using work plans to keep track of assignments. When they get assignments, they write them on the plan, and when they are finished, they show the assignment to one of us teachers and get our initials to show that it has been completed acceptably. At the end of the week, work plans will come home, along with any completed work your student did.

We started math lessons this week. 6th graders are beginning the year by reviewing multiples and factors. 5th graders are learning about exponents and will start doing a lot of work with squaring. 4th graders are exploring the concept of multiples, and beginning to find common multiples.

We’ve also begun working on grammar. We’re identifying nouns and adjectives in a reading passage, and we’re writing paragraphs with interesting nouns and adjectives as well.

Silent Auction Basket
Our classroom has a volunteer to organize Room 7’s basket for the silent auction on Oct. 11. We are also taking donations for items to be in the basket. Our class’s theme is comic books and graphic novels. If you come across comic book related items costing $10 or less, please feel free to pick them up and bring them in. We’re also taking money donations if you’d like to contribute but don’t know what to add.

Ridgeline Rising Block Party
Don’t forget about the block party at Southtowne Shoppes on Oct. 11. It is a fundraiser for our capital campaign. Two local bands will be playing, and there will be a bhangra performance as well. Ridgeline's middle school ukulele group will play as well. Businesses will be donating a portion of their proceeds to the school, and all the money from the silent auction will go to the capital campaign as well.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Thanks,
Sarah, Adriene, and Room 7
