Sarah's Weekly Update 5-3-12

posted May 3, 2012, 3:26 PM by Cynthia Friedman
This week the class started researching information surrounding the United States’ westward expansion. Students are finding information explaining one of the following topics: what westward expansion was, what type of people were moving west, or why people would want to move west in the first place. They are using that information to write an outline for an essay.

In geography, students are putting together newspaper advertisements for the businesses they want to open in Asia. Students are currently peer editing each others ads. On Wednesday we had a lesson on what type of suggestions are important at this stage, since we’re really focusing on making a quality product.

End of the Year Trip
Last Friday we sent home packets containing necessary information for our End of the Year trip which is happening from May 30 – June 1. Included was a permission slip and health history form that will need to be returned to school before Friday, May 11.

There was also a call for camping supplies that we can borrow, and food that you would be willing to donate. If you are able to help us out with food, there is a sign-up sheet in the office. We also sent home a packing list and itinerary for families to keep.

Ridgeline’s annual jog-a-thon is coming up soon. This week we will be sending home pledge sheets, so that students will be able to ask family and friends to help out with this fundraiser. This year’s jog-a-thon will be happening at South Eugene High School’s track, and since we will be leaving campus, each student will need to fill out a permission slip. Please help your student remember to turn this permission slip in to the office.

Thank you again for all your support,
Sarah, Emily, and Room 10
