Academic Work
In class this week we’ve started a research project on Oregon settlers. Students will be researching the lives of early European settlers in Oregon and presenting their findings to the class. Students will be able to choose whether they would like to create a poster, demonstrate some sort of skill, or teach a lesson to the class about what they find.

We’re using the scientific method to create an experiment that tests whether certain things help our memories. Students have hypthosized that everything from looking someone in the eye to pickle juice will help with memory.

Students are writing outlines of the stories that they are going to tell. The goal is to lay out where you want your story to go, and to include as many specific details as you can about what you want to happen.

Much of our math work is focusing on Cartesian coordinates this week. Some groups are playing Battleship type games, trying to guess which point someone is thinking of. Other groups are using coordinates to create connect-the-dot pictures. We also have students working on reading graphs and using the information contained in them to solve problems.

OAKS Testing
Our class will begin OAKS testing next week. Please help your students do their very best work by making sure they get plenty of sleep, and eat a good breakfast every day.

Spring conferences are being held Thursday and Friday April 11 and 12. If you have not yet signed up for a time, you may do so at any time in the office. These are parent teacher conferences, but students are also welcome to come and participate.

Laughing Planet Fundraiser
Join us at Laughing Planet at 29th and Willamette on Monday, April 8th, anytime from 11 am -9 pm for food and fun. 20% of all the sales that day goes to the school. Please tell your friends and family, post it on Facebook, and show up for a terrific cause. The Laughing Planet staff are doubling in size for the day for this event, because we overwhelmed them during the fundraiser last fall. Let's do it again, and show them we support their business. Maybe they will ask us back!!!!
