Sarah's Weekly Update 4-2-15

Our research focus this week has been on one of the possible products for the Project Fair: board games. We brainstormed about favorite board games and ways we could adapt them to fit a research topic. We also talked about some board games that might be easier to adapt, such as Candyland or Monopoly.

We are starting a new writing project this week. We will be writing quest stories. We began by brainstorming a list of quest stories, and then picking one to look at in more depth. Students are noticing how characters tend to become more heroic over the course of the story. We’re also looking at how the setting can be an important factor. We’ll focus more on each of these aspects as we work though the project.

In science we’ve started looking at atoms. This week students surveyed each other to find out what we already know about atoms. We are also making posters on the building blocks of atoms, protons, neutrons, and electrons.

Grounds Keeping and Outdoor Classroom Work Party

Come help us keep Ridgeline beautiful!  A volunteer grounds keeping work party will be held Saturday, April 11, 10am-3pm.  We'll be digging a path in the north field, weeding, pruning, raking and generally having fun; kids welcome too.  Bring gardening tools if you've got 'em, plus gloves & rugged clothing.  Meet at the outdoor classroom. All Family members may log volunteer hours.
