Academics

The class is starting a unit on writing reviews. Last week they brainstormed a number of things that they both love and hate. This week they are picking a few of those things, and adding some specific details to describe why they feel strongly about them.

We’ve been taking a Deep and Complex look at the American colonization process. This week we looked at some of the details surrounding the founding of Pennsylvania. We also looked at some of the rules the Quakers used to govern the colony.

In science we are “breeding” the animals that we’ve invented. Students are pairing up and using probability and the rules of dominance to determine what traits would be expressed in the offspring of their animals.

There is some great math work happening with integers right now. Students are learning how to do all operations with positive and negative numbers. We also have a lot of work happening around equivalent fractions. Students are investigating which fractions are equivalent, and creating posters, which they can use for future reference.

DDD Pasta Dinner

Our annual Ridgeline Community Pasta Dinner DDD Event will take place this Friday, February 20th from 5-7pm in the gym. Parent volunteers are working hard to organize the evening. We will serve penne pasta with pesto and marinara, bread, and salad. (Gluten-free options will be available.)

There is no fee for the dinner, however we highly encourage families to bring their donation for the Direct Donation Drive. Visit with other Ridgeline families, sign up for escrip, bid on the classroom pasta bowls, and bring your donation for the DDD!  We still need to raise $24,000 in order to pay for PE, our counselor, and music teacher this year!

Thanks,

Sarah, Adriene, and Room 7
