Academics
The class has been busy wrapping up assigned work before Winter Break starts. Students are compiling their favorite facts they've learned about their Out Of This World research topic. They have been creating posters with a visual representation of their subject along with a few choice facts they have learned. These posters will be on display at school once students get back from Winter Break.

Room 7 has also been busy trying to finish up the math that they have been working on. Some students are wrapping up work on rounding, while others have started doing division with the Montessori dot board. We also have a group working on division using 2 digit divisors. Finally, a group is reviewing how to reduce fractions and mixed numbers.

Work Habits
I'm pleased to say that I'm seeing improvement in the amount of work being turned in on a daily basis. The class as a whole is able to earn the ability to whisper during the work period as long as 80% of students are turning in work on time. Since this policy has gone into place, we've seen increased focus during the work time, along with an increase in the amount of work being completed on time.

Winter Break
I hope all families have a wonderful Winter Break, and send their students back to school on January 7, excited about the changes they'll be seeing in the classroom. I know Jenny has some great ideas, and she's really looking forward to being in the classroom full time. You can reach Jenny via email at

Goodbye for Now
Before I leave, I wanted to say that this has really been an amazing year for me. I could not ask for a better group of students, and it has been great to see them grow. I also want to thank parents for all you've done. Your support and excitement have been wonderful to experience. I will see you in April =)

Thank you for everything,

Sarah, Adriene, and Room 7
