Academics

Math
4th graders are practicing multi-digit multiplication in different ways, including using  the Montessori Stamp Game, arrays and area models.
5th graders are dividing decimals this week.
6th graders are practicing plotting ordered pairs on a coordinate plane.

Reading
Reading group books are finished!  Now it is time to produce something to share about the book each student read.  Most students should have this step completed on Thursday, but I am being flexible for those who feel they need a little extra time.

Writing
Editing Rules continue! This week we are focusing on how to accurately write an address and the appropriate way to quote what someone is saying.
In addition, I have added paragraph-editing practice.  For this practice, students will have a paragraph Monday-Thursday that needs to be corrected.  I plan to continue this each week.

Science
Science Fair Projects are due!  All science fair projects should be in this Friday.  I have mentioned to students that if they are feeling stressed about time, they should come talk to me so we can work something out.  The UO Science Fair is this Saturday March 8th.  The Ridgeline Project Fair will be next Tuesday 3:15-4:15 p.m. and 6-7 p.m.
I can’t wait to see what all these great young minds have discovered!

In class we are researching natural disasters.  On Monday and Tuesday students chose a natural disaster that they would like to research and came up with an essential question to focus on.  Yesterday we reviewed how to cite sources.  Now it is time to research!  On Friday we will have specified time to start this research.
