Academics
This week Room 10 is no longer in testing mode, and lessons are fully up and running once more. Much focus is still on independent projects, and I’m seeing a lot of good work on written reports and posters. On Monday we started looking at what makes a good oral report, and the class brainstormed a few guidelines that we could use.

In history we’re looking at the time leading up to the Civil War. This week the class became a very divided United States Congress, trying to decide whether secession was a good idea or a bad idea. We had some great debate about that, and the students were really getting to understand some of the contention around the issue.

Last week’s Peace Education lesson was on being a good self manager. We talked about what that meant, and what it looked like in the classroom. Then we discussed some specific examples of students being good self managers. This week we’ll be taking this topic more in depth.

Project Fair
Don’t forget about Ridgeline’s Montessori Exploratorium Project Fair happening here at school next Thursday. Your students have been working long and hard on independent research. Now’s your chance to come and see what it’s all about. All classrooms will be open immediately after school, as well as later in the evening.

Thanks,

Sarah, Emily, and Room 10
