Dear Middle School Family,

Math Groups Start this week!
This is the big week. Students' work schedules are going to get a little more packed and stressful as we start math groups this week. We'll have math lessons Monday-Thursday. Please support your student in organizing their day planners and keeping on top of their work. If they can't get their work finished at school, they need to be doing it as homework.

Class Baskets: Pirate Theme
As part of the Capital Campaign kick-off event on October 22, each classroom is putting together a 'basket' for the silent auction. Our theme is "Pirate Booty!" We need to gather goodies by October 14. Please see the flyer that went home earlier this week for details. (Anyone know where we can find a small "treasure chest" in lieu of a basket?)

Class Sleepover
A sleepover at school?! Yup! September 29-30. We're going to have a blast. Thank you Leanne Collis, Bruce Searl, and Karen Fabiano for joining us on our first adventure. Students will need to bring lunch for Thursday and Friday to school on Thursday. We'll have pizza and salad for dinner Thursday, and fruit, yogurt, and granola for breakfast Friday. The plan is to sleep in tents out in the field, play some games, and maybe watch a movie outside (Goonies, anyone?) Students will be dismissed at 1:15pm on Friday.

Ukuleles! at Ridgeline
Mele Ohana's Ukes for Kids program will do a short assembly/sing-along with us on Friday, September 30 at 11am. We received a grant of Ukuleles to help kickstart Ridgeline Middle School's music program. Please join us Friday for the celebration.

We're still looking for volunteers to teach electives. Right now we have none. Electives are held on Fridays from 10-11:45am. There are three elective sessions this year. Electives Session 1: October 7-December 16--(7 sessions, total). Electives Session 2:January13-March 16--(9 sessions, total). Electives Session 3: April 6-June 1--(7 sessions, total).

Cooking, painting, sculpture, textiles, sewing, soccer, ultimate frisbee, flag football, foreign languages, theater, film-making, building, music, making... Share your passion with a small group of terrific kids.

Have a great week!
Jon and Carrie
