Ridgeline’s Middle School Program Proposal 2015-2016
Academic Core will include:
Math (Individually-leveled)
Science A/B Yearly Schedule (Project-Based Physical Science and Project-Based Life Science)
Humanities A/B Yearly Schedule (Project-Based American History/Gov. and Global Studies)
Communications: Across the curriculum, particular emphasis in Humanities
Physical Education (2 x per week)
Music Theory and Performance (w/ Ukuleles 2 x per week)
Personal/Group Projects (Art/Practical Life/Internship/Independent Study) (4 x per week)
Room and Group Logistics:
Projection for 45 students for 2015-16.

Staffing: Two Full-Time Teachers. One Half-time Teacher. No Assistants. (Full time Humanities/
Communications teacher, Full time Science/Math teacher, Half time Math teacher.)
Three Prepared Environments (Classrooms): Kitchen, Blue Room, Room Eleven.
Three Student Groups of 15 students each for Morning Academic Subjects. Students rotate through subject
work periods in three prepared environments.
One Group for Afternoon Projects Period.
Two Groups for Music/PE. (Monday/Wednesday; Tuesday/Thursday situation: one group does one while one
group does the other.)

8:40-8:55 Morning Meeting
8:55-10:05 Period 1 (Science/Math/Humanities-Communications)
10:05-10:12 Break
10:12-11:22 Period 2 (Humanities-Comm/Science/Math)
11:22-11:30 Break
11:30-12:40 Period 3 (Math/Humanities-Comm/Science)
12:40-1:20 Lunch
1:20-2:25 Projects Period/Independent Work Period
2:25-2:40 Jobs
2:40-3:15 Music/PE (2 Groups: one in PE, the other in Music.)
Friday:
8:40-8:55 Morning Meeting
8:55-10:05 Period 1 (Science/Math/Humanities-Comm)
10:05-10:12 Break
10:12-11:22 Period 2 (Humanities-Comm/Science/Math)
11:22-11:30 Break
11:30-12:40 Period 3 (Math/Humanities-Comm/Science)
12:40-1:15 Lunch
One Friday per month will be devoted to Whole Community Building days: Work Parties, Field Trips, Hikes, etc.
