Dear Middle School Family,

There is a lot going on these last three weeks of school.  Please watch for permission slips early this week for upcoming field trips.  (Yes, we're crazy!)

Canopy Connections, Thursday, May 28: 7:30am-4:30pm

We are taking a school bus from Ridgeline at 7:30am.  There was a grant that paid for it.  Yay!  If you paid $3 to help with gas money, we will simply apply it to the fee for the Adventure Trip.  Please have your student at school NO LATER THAN 7:20am.  The bus will LEAVE Ridgeline promptly at 7:30am.  We will be back at Ridgeline at 4:30pm.  Thanks to Dave, Erik, Mitra, Janene, and Ali for joining us on the trip.

End of Year Picnic, Thursday, May 28: 5:30pm

Shortly after we get back from our fieldtrip, the End of the Year picnic starts!  It's a low-key, fun event, but the timing is a little tricky, and the kids (and the adults) are going to be beat from a long day in the woods.  If you plan to attend to picnic, please connect with me ASAP, and we can maybe arrange for your student to hang out at school until you come at 5:30pm.

Mini-Concerts Downtown, Monday, June 1: 9:15am-3:15pm

We will take the LTD bus downtown on Monday to play mini (15 minute) concerts at various business and organizations in downtown on Monday, June 1.  It's going to be a blast.  You'll see a permission slip for this early this week.  The students have us set up to play all over town.  It's going to be a lot of fun.  Thanks to Dave, Monica, and Janene for joining us.

Concert at Junction City Retirement, Tuesday, June 2: 12:30pm-3:15pm

They called us!  They're going to send their bus that can carry 15 passengers.  We still need one adult chaperone to help us transport students.  We need transportation for 10 more.  Carrie and I can do it with our vehicles if someone can ride the bus with the kids.  Or if someone else can drive, I can ride the bus.

8th Grade Graduation, Thursday, June 4: 6-8pm

Graduation is a special, fun, important event.  We will be honoring 10 graduates this year.  The ceremony will start promptly at 6pm, and the formal ceremony should be finished around 6:40pm.  We will then have an ice cream sundae bar.  Please bring a topping (fruit, or candies, or...).  Ridgeline will provide the bowls, spoons, and ice cream.  We have a small group of 7th grade parents who will host the ice cream table (thanks, Dee for being the 'boss' for this).

After we've stuffed our faces with fat and sugar, the 8th graders will put on a short talent show.  Please plan to attend and honor these terrific young men and women.

Adventure Trip, Monday, June 8-Thursday, June 11

What's funny is school gets out on Wednesday, and we're camping until Thursday.  The students were begging us to stay out camping until Friday!  Crazy kids.  Thank you Dave, Erik, David, Mary, Janene, and Rob for joining us on our adventure.

We will be staying in group camping sites, in tents, at Honeyman Park in Florence.  The students will set up camp, prepare all the meals, and we're going to have a blast.  We're going tidepooling on Monday, Sandboarding on Tuesday, hiking on Wednesday, and wrapping things up on Thursday.  We'll leave at 9am on Monday, and we will be back at Ridgeline at about 2pm on Thursday.

A packet with all the information (packing list, itinerary, permission slips, etc.) will be coming home this week.  Cost for the trip is $100 per student, including food, campsites, activities, and gas.  We are going to supplement this cost with cookie money scholarships!  Each student gets a $25 scholarship!  So the final cost for the trip is $75.  As always, additional scholarships are available.  The form is available in the office.  No one will be left out due to financial constraints.

Our end of the year trip is an important part of our school year, and and unforgettable part of your student's Middle School experience.  Please encourage them to attend.

Alright.  Deep breath.  This looks absolutely insane on paper, but it's going to be a lot of fun.

Please e-mail me with any questions.
