Dear Middle School Family,

We're wrapping up our Native American Tribe presentations this week. I am sincerely impressed with how these projects turned out, and especially by the care and sincerity with which the students engaged in the projects and their presentations. They really knew their stuff! It was fun to see them present with confidence and authority. They've all grown so much this year!

Our Studio workshops are going strong. Thanks to Dave (Allison's Dad) for leading a Drumming Group and to Daniel (Gia's Dad) for leading an Acting Class. Carrie's leading a Felting and Jewelry Making workshop, and we've got some students doing Art work and Computer Programming, as well. Such good stuff!

You should have received the "permission slip" for the Hult Center field trip on Tuesday. I've also attached it to this e-mail. It's important that the students be at the Hult Center no later than 8:45. We have our sound check at 9am, so we'll need to be on stage by 9!

Thanks to Nanette (Eliza's Mom) and Dave and Monica (Allison's Parents) for agreeing to join us after the Hult Center performance for our trek through downtown Eugene. We've booked The Atrium building (that houses many of the City Offices), Senior and Disabled Services (across the street from the DAC), and Perk Coffee Shop. We plan to do a concert for the kids and families at the River Play Discovery Village Playground by Skinner's Butte (where we'll also have lunch), and we'll drop in at a couple of other local businesses along the way.

It's going to be a lot of fun. We will ride the bus back to Ridgeline by 2:30. If your student can be dismissed from downtown, please be sure to check the box on the permission slip. (No sense they ride back to Ridgeline if the just have to ride the bus back to the bus station.)

There will be NO EXTRA UKE REHEARSAL next Tuesday!

Next Thursday, we'll have visitors from the University of Oregon's Canopy Connections program to help prep the students for our visit to H.J. Andrews Experimental Forest on May 1.

The end of the school year is coming up fast! We're going to keep busy, that's for sure!

Thanks for all your support,

Jon and Carrie
