Dear Middle School Family,
We started the Smarter Balanced testing with the 'reading' test this week. It went pretty smoothly. Despite all the hubbub, the students reported that the test was tedious, of course, but easier than previous incarnations. Next week, we'll do the writing test.
We'll spend the beginning of each week in April completing the SB testing. We limit the testing window each day to 10am-10:40am. The students can take all five days, if they need them. We simply make that time a silent work period for those who have finished.
Work Party! This Saturday's Work Parties have been postponed due to extreme weather predictions. It's been rescheduled for April 25, so please mark your calendar. We really need your help spiffying the campus up.
Recording Session We have a Recording Session scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, at Track Town Records, over by the 4J District Office. Students participating in TRUE will report to campus as usual and we will head over together. If I can get enough parent volunteers to transport 15 students and gear, we'll drive over. Help! Otherwise, we'll take LTD. It's going to take the whole day. We'll dismiss from Track Town Records at 4pm. I'll be in touch soon with a permission slip and details.
We started our exploration of Islam this week. Pretty fascinating. Ask your student about their first impressions. We have a lot of growth and learning left to do this school year, that's for certain!
Have a great weekend, Jon and Carrie
