Kinder Weekly Update 3-7-13

We enjoyed our Dr. Seuss Pajama Party and are still reading his books.

Our Shape and Say story is “The Woebegone Worms.”

The CIK story is “Easy as One, Two,” focusing on being responsible. It teaches the students (1) to set aside a special time to take care of school jobs and to do it at the same time everyday. Then, (2) to put school things in a special place where they won’t be forgotten.

We have introduced fiction and nonfiction, and a few other lessons about how to research an animal. A lesson on the ball python covered things to consider when presenting to an audience. These are the first lessons leading up to our April research projects for the Exploratorium the evening of Tuesday, April 16.

We continue to read about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, introducing their images on the penny, quarter and dollar bill.

Popular new exercises are shining pennies, pickle slicing and president profile punching.

A new song you many be hearing is “It’s a Shamrock.”
