Kindergarten Weekly Update 5-1-13

Last Friday, each child made a pancake. The lesson included leveling the cup of mix with the straight edge of a knife, measuring the water and stirring. Then, brushing the oil on the griddle, pouring ¼ cup of batter and flipping (the most enjoyable part next to eating it).

The children are sewing the appliqués that they designed onto their sashes. They include suns, rainbows, a pirate, MLK, a peace prize, musical notes, stars, lots of hearts, stripes, fruits, Guinea pig, dog, trees, clover, shapes, mountains, dragon, dragon eggs, birds, robots, animals, train, butterflies, flowers and everything else that’s wonderful. These will be worn during the kindergarten music program on the evening of May 14, 6:30 to 7:00.

Our CIK story is “I Wish I Could Do That,” development is unique.

We desperately need “people power” this Sunday to help dig the swale and footings for the outdoor classroom, stop by anytime between 10am-4pm.

WEDNESDAY MAY 8, NATIONAL BIKE TO SCHOOL DAY –To celebrate this day, we will be encouraging all Ridgeline kids with bikes to meet at Tugman park to bike-pool to Ridgeline (more details to come). Later that day, the Center for Appropriate Transport will be providing rides for students on their cargo bikes and trikes. For this, everybody should bring their own helmet to school. Even if students do not ride a bike to school, they should bring their helmet, so that they can participate in this fun event!

Hope you are enjoying this sunshine.
