Kindergarten Weekly Update 2-26-12

Song titles for February have been: “His Name was Washington,” “Abraham Lincoln,” “February is a Short Month,” “Mail Myself to You,” “Heart of Paper,” “One Penny, Two Penny,” “You are My Dollar,” and “Magic Penny.” Hope you have heard some of these at home.

This week we celebrated the one-hundredth day of school, read “George Washington’s Breakfast,” (which consisted of three hoecakes and as many cups of tea) and each child prepared batter and cooked a hoecake on the griddle. Delicious!

We are reading another book in Russell Erickson’s series about the toad brothers, Warton and Morton.

And, of course, we are all enjoying the original stories composed by our friends and classmates.

This Friday, March 2, we will celebrate Dr. Seuss Day. Students are encouraged to wear striped clothing.

Our Shape and Say story features the letter u and its sound.

We could use more adults to listen to children read during the morning work period.

Save-the-Date: On Thursday, May 10, at 6:30 the kindergarten class will present a music program in the cafeteria.
