Kindergarten Weekly Update 11-6-13

The children really enjoyed the field trip to Mt. Pisgah. Look for their reflections in the next Ridgeline Reader for evidence of how much they learned along the nature trails.

Shape and Say stories: “Inchworm” and “Roger the Racer,” featuring the letters “I” and “R” and their sounds.

For coping strategies: “A Puzzling Problem,” about staying on task and “Tattletale.”

Each child has completed a pumpkin pillow, threading his/her own needle and sewing the running stitch.

The world maps are coming along.

Seasonal art includes origami bats, tissue ghosts, crayon scratch and haunted houses.

We have carved two jack-o-lanterns and will be playing some pioneer harvest games on the 31st, like drop the clothespin in the jug and beanbag toss. We also plan to compose “spooky” stories around a pot of smoking dry ice.

We are looking forward to seeing you during conferences.

Dates to remember:
Book Fair, Friday, November 15. The poems are sounding better every day.
Stone Soup, November 22
