Diana's Weekly Update 9-25-14

Items are arriving for our All Things Lego basket for the silent auction. We will be collecting until Wednesday, October 1. 

Music began last week with the hiring of Amber Bell. She teaches the kindergartners on Tuesday afternoons from 12:40-1:20 (half the class at a time). 

Gardening and Science with be happening on Thursday mornings. 

Our Shape and Say stories: “The Time-Tapping Tool,” featuring the letter “t” and its sound and “The Moaning Mountain,” featuring the letter “m” and its sound. 

Coping in Kindergarten stories:
“Lucky’s First Day,” “New Friends,” “Nobody Likes Me,” “I Like Your Picture” and “The Special Game.” 

The children have learned to thread their own needles and sew on buttons to make felt bracelets. 

We met our reading buddies last week. Each child is paired with an upper-el child for reading in our classroom a couple of Tuesdays a month for the year. 

A short training for those who want to work one-on-one in the library listening to kindergartners read will be offered Friday, October 3 at 1:30 in Room 1. Attendees will learn how to track and record the children’s reading. 

Students will have their vision screened the morning of Friday, October 3. Please send your child to school with glasses, if they use them.
