Diana's Weekly Update 12-12-14

posted Dec 12, 2014, 11:13 AM by Cynthia Friedman
We enjoyed the Nutcracker Ballet. The kindergartners are acting out some parts of the story in class with a few props.

Our current sewing project is a snow gnome. This requires the whipstitch, different from the running stitch and reinforcing stitches we have used in previous projects.

Recent Shape and Say stories have highlighted the letters r, b and f. Tomorrow the children will be making flan in celebration of “f.”

Simple machines continue to be the science topic. December lessons have covered the screw. Activities that Yaeko has incorporated into the lessons include using screwdrivers, a screw nutcracker to open walnuts and an Archimedes screw to move water from a lower level to a higher level.

Current rhymes: “Five Little Reindeer” and “Gingerbread Men.”
