Diana's Weekly Update 11-18-15

The kindergartners thoroughly enjoyed their grandparents’ visit last Friday. Our elderly volunteer reader sat in place of the grandparents who were unable to attend so every child felt the warmth in the room.

And didn’t the children set the tone for the book fair last Friday evening. Thanks to all who attended and to those who made purchases for our class.

Next Tuesday, send a potato or carrot to class for your child to prep for our stone soup. They should bring a bowl and spoon on Wednesday. We also request a $2 contribution to help pay for the Louisiana Fiddle Music Assembly. The soup is an afternoon snack, so send a full lunch for your child.

The children have been weaving Thanksgiving placemats. A parent or two is needed to do the on-site lamination and trimming. Any takers?

Recent Shape and Say stories: “The Time Tapping Tool” and “The Moaning Mountain.”

Our CIK story: “I Like Your Picture,” with a focus on fostering friendship through genuine compliments.

The children made pancakes last Thursday.

Current songs/rhymes: “Stone Soup,” “Over the River and Through the Woods,” “Something in My Shoe” and “There Once Was a Puffin.”

Homework resumes November 30.
