Diana's Weekly Update 10-11-18

posted Oct 11, 2018, 12:28 PM by Cynthia Friedman

The children have learned a new sewing stitch—the running stitch—for the October sewing project. They have used it to make pumpkin pillows.

The incline is the simple machine of the month.

The cooking project this month is making crepes.

The recent Shape and Say stories: “The Moaning Mountain” and “Sammy and the Slide,” featuring the letters m and s and their sounds, respectively.

“Pepper’s Lesson” was our Coping in Kindergarten story, with a focus on receiving the same treatment you give others.

Songs/Poems: “Going to Kentucky,” “I Like Fall,” “Five Little Pumpkins.”

Our chapter book is Morton and Warton by Russell E. Erickson. It is the first in a series of adventures of two toad brothers. Very sweet.

Mt. Pisgah permission slips are due Monday, October 22. If you plan to join us, make sure your background check is on file in the office.

Please send utensils for snack and lunch.

Also, keep a change-of-clothes in your child’s backpack for tumbles into the mud on the playground.

Homework begins Monday, October 15. Envelopes are returned on Fridays.

For those who are interested in listening to the children read one-on-one, Diana will give a brief training on Friday, October 19, 1:25-1:50.
