News about Room 8s New Teaching Team: As some of you have heard at conferences, I am excited to share that Mary Bach-Jackson will be joining Ridgeline as the new upper elementary teacher for room 8. She is AMI certified for 6-12 year olds and has Montessori charter school experience! I was part of the interview team and was impressed by her enthusiasm and depth of knowledge. She also taught a lesson in Clint’s upper el classroom and the kids had great things to say about her. J Samantha Windred, the parent of one of our Ridgeline students, has also been hired as a temporary assistant for the beginning of the school year. Jenny Bersch, who will be out for maternity leave in the fall is planning to return in January when she will be joining room 8 as the permanent classroom assistant. You may know Jenny in the role of Ridgeline’s reading and math specialist, but our sixth grade crew will also remember Jenny’s time in our classroom as an assistant in the 2012-2013 school year. I feel good about leaving “my” students in such capable hands, as I know Mary, Samantha and Jenny will make a strong team.

Upcoming events:
Friday, 5/29 6:00 Room 8 Romeo and Juliet performance, move up day
Saturday, 5/30 House Concert to benefit the Capital Campaign
Fridagy, 6/5 Grading Day (no school for students)
Monday, 6/8 Field day
Tuesday, 6/9 Room 8 Sleepover 6:00pm
Wednesday, 6/10 Last day for students

Thanks to each of you for your amazing support with this great group of kids. I can’t tell you how often I hear our class is “the best one.” Maybe they say that to all the classes…but in our case, its true!

Dana and Rozelle
