Bound for Oregon Simulation

We are starting our "Bound for Oregon" simulation this week.  The students will be able to earn items and badges towards their simulation and wagon train teams.  They will also be able to pit their team's knowledge of the Oregon Trail and Oregon history against another team in a challenge.  For the next week, everyone will be working on an action figure package for their chosen historical figure.

Read-a-Thon

All sponsorship monies are due by Tuesday, May 10th.  Our total of 2187 challenges met was fabulous!

State Testing

We will be continuing to do state testing - Smarter Balanced and Oaks - throughout May.  If you are curious as to what these tests look like, or your student would like to practice, please visit the Oaks website (http://oaksportal.org/students/ ).

May is Bike and Walk to School Month

Our students have really embraced our "Bike and Walk to School" Week.  Many have challenged themselves to walk to/from Crossfire and urged their friends to do the same.  Outstanding!

REMEMBER!!

Play Shoes – As the weather warms up it is tempting to allow little feet out the door with flip flops and other flimsy footwear. Please send your child to school is sturdy shoes that allow them to participate in PE and run and jump at recess. Many a scraped and/or slivered foot has been tended to in the office this week!

Leave Campus After School – Supervision of students ends at 3:30pm. Students who are not participating in an on campus after school activity – such as the performance Uke group, chess club, Young Rembrandts, Coyote Kids, SEA Art and Science, etc. need to leave school grounds after dismissal. Students under the direction supervision of a parent or guardian are welcome to remain on campus to utilize the playground.

Pull Forward - Kids Can Walk! – Please remember to pull forward as far as you can in the drop off circle, in front of the school, as we are having a drop off line back up problem! Do not stop directly in front of the doors of buildings. Students can walk!

Pantry Donations Needed – Thank you for your ongoing donations for the food pantry. Please keep them coming! We want to be able to feed hungry kiddos. Thank you!

As always, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns!
