Quamash Wetlands Planting Trip

We will be going on a field trip to the Quamash Wetlands site near Short Mountain on Thursday, May 10th, where we will be working alongside the Kalapuya High School students.  Together we will be planting a variety of native plants to help with the remediation of the site.  This will be an all-day, outside event. The bus will leave at 9am and return to Ridgeline by 2:30pm (free transportation is being provided by the Recreation Department for the City of Eugene).  Please ensure that your student is prepared for this trip by having:

- waterproof shoes or tall rubber boots

- light rain jacket

- sunscreen

- a large water bottle

- a healthy snack

- a snack lunch.

To be eligible to attend this field trip, we must receive both a signed Ridgeline permission form AND the Lane County Permission and Release form by Tuesday, May 8th.  Students who are not going on the field trip will be working in another classroom for the day.

State Testing

We have been doing “practice testing” this week to become familiar with the state testing interface and the new Chromebook laptops.  Actual testing will begin next week and run until the end of May. Please help students do their best by ensuring that they get plenty of sleep and a good breakfast.

Bike & Walk to School Month

May is Bike & Walk to School Month.  Today, we handed out punch cards to all the kids so they can keep track of how many days they bike and/or walk to school in the month of May (students can keep their cards at school or at home).  At the end of the month, there will be a raffle for all students who turn in their completed punch card. On May 9th, we are also organizing a bike train from Tugman Park leaving at 8am, and a walking train from The Annex (formally Crossfire) leaving at 8:05am. If you would like to bike or walk with your student, that would be great!

PS:  Please return the Friday Folder to the classroom on Tuesday!
