With lots of people being indoors together over the holiday season, please be vigilant for head lice and remind students not to share hats and scarves.  Also, notices about requisite immunizations will be sent home in the coming week.

Inclement Weather and Emergency Closures

In the case of inclement weather that would make roads, school parking lots, driveways, or sidewalks unsafe for travel, Ridgeline Montessori Public Charter School will be closed when the 4J school district is closed. If Ridgeline is scheduled to be in session, and no announcement is made, school is still in session as planned.  You may sign up for inclement weather text alerts from 4J at

Exciting Extracurriculars in the Community:

Lane County 4-H Providing Free Winter Workshop Series for Youth!

In an effort to develop interest and excitement in 4-H and 4-H’s non-animal project areas, Lane County 4-H is hosting a series of winter workshops for youth! Workshops are completely free, and open to youth ages 9 – 18. Youth will get hands on experience with a number of different topics, and have the opportunity to leave each workshop with a finished project. RSVPs are required!

All workshops are held at the OSU Lane County Extension office in Eugene, and take place on Saturdays from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. The full schedule follows:

OSU-Lane County’s Junior Master Naturalist Program Opens Registration!

Have you heard about our exciting new program, Junior Master Naturalist? Previously this program was only open to homeschool youth, but due to popular demand they are expanding it to ALL local youth in 4th – 8th grades! Youth participating in this program will learn about regional natural resources through field trips to local natural areas, hands-on science experiments, service projects, and outdoor adventures! Topics we will be exploring include wildlife, forestry, and watersheds!

For $20, attend at least 6 sessions to become a certified Junior Master Naturalist! Junior Master Naturalists have their 2017 4-H membership fee and Fair exhibitor fee waived and will be invited to JMN Spring Break Camp. Transportation is provided for all fieldtrips, and full scholarships are available.

This program meets weekly from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at the OSU Extension Office at 996 Jefferson starting in January. Youth are separated by grade level, with 4th- 6th grade students meeting on Mondays, and 6th- 8th grade students meeting Wednesday. 6th grade student may register for either session based upon self-evaluated maturity and education levels.

Afterschool Art Classes - 10 years and up

SE Eugene - just 5 minutes from Ridgeline!

$10/hour - Schedule and pay for 4 one-hour classes at a time ($40)

Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, OR Thursdays 3:30pm to 4:30pm

Or can schedule other days/times if needed!

Individual or small classes that give individualized instruction tailored to each student’s level of ability (from basic beginnings to more complex, specific art techniques; such as, anatomy,

classical animation, digital Photoshop, etc.).  You bring the medium.  We teach the technique.  If Photoshop is desired, the student may use our program during class while enrolled.

Instructor is Matt Hawk, (a Ridgeline Dad) who has been teaching art classes in Eugene for the past 5 years.  With an Associate's Degree in Illustration and Graphic Design, he has 20+ years in the field (including book design, comic book design, video game design, classical animation, character development, card game design and more).  He has a lifetime of working with children through various camps and classes throughout the years.  Please call Kesha Hawk at 541.731.4626 or email
