Jog-a-thon!

Our Jog-a-thon last Friday was a huge success despite the rain.  The kids did so many laps, and they were all smiles while they did them!  Please help your student to complete the pledge form and collect monies, then return the envelope to the classroom.

Student Presentations Next Period!

Every Thursday we set aside time for students to present to the class.  Over the next two weeks I will be asking each student to do a very short presentation on something that is important to them.  This could be a person, a pet, a personal object, or a book.  They will need to show that "item" (or a picture of it) and talk for 1-3 minutes about the personal significance of it.  I will split the group presentations over the two Thursdays of the period (I will add time on other days, if needed).  So please have a conversation with your student about a possible topic for this presentation!

Fidgets in the Classroom

We have had a couple of issues with fidgets in the classroom so far this year.  The spinning style of fidget is not allowed at all, and any other object intended to be used as a fidget must follow our "Fidget Rules".

Fidget Rules

A fidget is a small object that keeps your hands busy so you can focus.

You can hold it in your hand - feel it, move it, and manipulate it to help you focus on your work.

There are important rules when using your fidget:

- you should not need to look at your fidget

- you should not try to get your friend's attention with your fidget

- the fidget must stay in our hands or by your work area.

Curriculum Sharing Night

We will be having "Curriculum Sharing Night" on Wednesday, October 18th from 3:05-4:05 and 6-7pm.  Please come into the classroom to see all of the work they have been doing so far.  This is also an opportunity to find out what the heck a "stamp game" is or "Hands-on Equations"!

4th Grade Support Meeting:The transition to 4th grade can be a significant transition to many students at a variety of schools, magnified perhaps at Ridgeline as the student makes the leap to upper elementary.

That is why we have scheduled a q&a panel discussion with teachers, administration and recent 4th grade parents for October 10th at 6:30pm. We are hoping this panel can help normalize the transition and answer questions you may have about expectations and adjustments your 4th grader may be experiencing.

In addition, or in lieu of, we are working on identifying parent mentors to answer questions and offer collegial support. Please reach out to your room parent or teacher if you need help connecting with someone.” --Stephanie Edwards

Please contact Stephanie Edwards at stephanie.edwards@ridgeline.org if you have any questions or need help navigating support resources.

Birthday Bash

Our Birthday Bash for October birthdays will be held on October 20th.  If your student has a birthday that month, please feel free to send in a healthy snack on that date.

PS:  Please return the Friday Folder and the Workplan Report to the classroom on Monday!
