Mary's Weekly Update 10-27-17

Time Utilization

Many students have been asking if they can take work home as homework..  Work that is not completed in the classroom is encouraged to go home and be completed there (when possible).  The goal is to complete 70%-100% of assignments each week, so please help your student by asking these questions each day:

- did you complete 3-5 works today?

(this guideline should ensure that they stay on top of their work)

- did you complete at least two pages of math today?

(there are usually four pages of regular math and four pages of review or geometry assigned per week).

There is always time built into the school day to complete assigned works, so it is up to the student to use their time efficiently.   Please encourage your student to use the Post-It Note Club if they need/want help organizing their work.

Parent Conferences

If you have not already signed up for a slot for Parent Conferences, please do so (http://signup.com/go/3fsfL4  ).  This conference is a vital part of the ways in which we can all work together to support your student.

Bowls and Masks

On Friday, November 3rd, we will be making yarn bowls and masks with paper mache clay.  Half of the class will be making a bowl and the other half will make a mask.  The following week, the students will switch so that everyone will have a bowl and a mask.  We will use many of the masks in our student-written plays of famous exploration journeys for the Barnes & Noble Bookfair this year (11/17/17).

PS:  Please return the Friday Folder to the classroom on Monday!
