Mary's Weekly 10-6-16

posted Oct 6, 2016, 3:01 PM by Cynthia Friedman

Starting this week, we have a homework expectation that everyone will read for a minimum of 20 minutes every night.  On the Weekly Report, parents will be asked to sign off that their student has fulfilled that requirement.

Many of the students are working on larger projects for Breakout Biology and other lessons.  While there is time to work on projects in the classroom, your student may choose to bring some of that work home.  Please encourage them to use their Google account, if possible, for that work, so that they can also access it at school seamlessly.  If your student does not yet have a Google account, please contact the office to ask them to create one.  Also, please encourage your student generally in their project work.  It is a huge step forward for many of them to tackle a large project and also to choose to bring work home.

Physical Education (PE)

Please remind your student to wear athletic-type, closed-toe shoes on PE days - Tuesdays and Thursdays.  We have had several falls due to unsafe shoes with no traction.  Also, encourage them to wear layers on those days so that they don't overheat.

Bike Safety Training Course

The Upper Elementary Bike Safety Training Course with the City of Eugene will be taught by Ridgeline parent Salmon Stroich.  It will take place the weeks of October 17-21 and 24-28.  Bikes and helmets will be provided, but students are welcome to bring their own equipment.

Birthday Bash

Our Birthday Bash for October birthdays will be held on October 21st (not the 14th as reported previously).  If your student has a birthday that month, please feel free to send in a healthy snack for the whole class to share on that date.

PS:  Please return the Friday Folder and the Weekly Report to the classroom on Monday!
