Welcome Back!
As the year commences, we are developing a community of compassionate, lifelong learners. It is awesome to see the students eager to learn, work as a team, and support the best in everyone. The students are practicing and internalizing the ground rules for a peaceful classroom: respect of self, others, and the environment. We are both placing our intention on and practicing the roots of being a Montessori student: receptivity to guidance, care, cooperation, and respect/kindness. We are creating an artistic representation of a tree that is the vision of the ground rules for creating a peaceful classroom. The leaves are statements from the students of how they think, feel, and demonstrate actions of guidance, care, cooperation, and respect/kindness.

Family Class Meeting
Thank you to all the families who participated in our class meeting! This was an opportunity for the students and me to share our vision and practice of Cosmic Education. Thank you to all the students who shared their leaf statements, examples of the work portfolio, writer’s notebook, and daily planning skills. This was also an opportunity for families to meet our assistant Donna Dawson. Donna and I are thrilled to work as a team to support the best in your children.

If you were unable to attend the meeting please see a handout from the meeting in your child’s parent folder. We have an awesome parent community—thank you for your partnership!

Parent Folder
Students will take home a parent folder on Fridays with notes from the office and/or class. Please review the notes and return the parent folder on Mondays.

School Lunch Order Forms Due on Wednesdays
Each student will receive a hot lunch form in their parent folder on Friday. The form and check are due to Ridgeline on or before every Wednesday for the following week.

Students will take the Easycbm tests for reading comprehension, fluency, and math the week of September 19. As always please support your child in getting a good night’s sleep, eating a healthy breakfast, and packing a nutritious snack for school.

A special thank you to the Sturdivant parents, student Rowan Sturdivant, the Turetzky parents, student Danielle Turetzky, student Lydia Genz, and Student Jaclyn McQuaid for sharing your time, talents, and resources to create a beautiful classroom. We are grateful!!
