Project Fair
The project fair was a great success! Many families commented on the depth of knowledge that the students demonstrated and how aesthetically beautiful the displays were. Thank you for supporting the enthusiasm for knowledge and creative expression. It was awesome to see the students collaborating with each other so deeply on the projects!

Looking Ahead
We look forward to upcoming lessons on the time line of life and human beings within the next few weeks! In addition, we will continue with core knowledge science/history readings and Socratic Dialogue. We look forward to upcoming lessons with Montessori math and geometry materials—further work with the decimal system, squares & cubes of numbers, the tower of jewels, advanced square root, ratio & proportion, sum of angles in polygons, area of a circle, area of a trapezoid, area of a rhombus, and word problems. Students are also engaging in new independent research projects; a note will be sent home in the coming week designating resources that your child needs to bring to school.

Homework
In addition to reading 30 or more minutes each night, please support your child with the math stars newsletter. The newsletter goes home every Wednesday to be returned the following Wednesday. This is an opportunity to engage in math problem solving strategies with your child and support critical thinking. Please be open to sharing with your child that there are a variety of ways to solve a word problem.

U of O Science Fair
Congratulations to Iuliana and Emily for their science project on DNA and Goldfish Color! They received a ribbon for creative project idea at the U of O Science Fair!

Jog-a-thon
Please support the Ridgeline Annual Jog-a-thon! The goals are to build community, encourage exercise and fun, and raise money for our school. The jog-a-thon packet with schedule, permission slip, and pledge form will be sent home May 3. The permission slip is due May 10, and the jog-a-thon event is May 18 at South Eugene High School Track from 10:30 a.m. to 1p.m. Pledges are due by June 7.

Class Camping Trip
We are in need of a few additional parent volunteers with large vehicles to assist with transportation to and from the Oregon Coast May 30-June 1. A special thank you to Betsy Brandenfels, Robert Foltz, Serafina Moses, and Debbie & Dave Turetzky for volunteering to drive and chaperone thus far. We look forward to our adventure trip! A preliminary note for the trip will be sent home early in the week for you to sign and return by Friday.
