Dana's Weekly Update 4-24-15

Dear Families,

Shakespeare:  Students have been working hard on our upcoming Shakespearean play, Romeo and Juliet!   In addition to learning about the characters and story and learning lines, we have completed a couple of projects to help teach the storyline to student at Ridgeline prior to our performance.  The first is a fabulous book of original illustrations that accompany a version of the play in verse. Please feel free to take the opportunity to look at this books while you are here for the project fair.  The second project is a rewritten, short version of the play in modern language written by some of our talented students.  These students will be performing their version for interested classrooms as another venue for students to learn the storyline.  We are hoping to get a start on our painting our backdrops and creating props soon.  If you are interested in helping with these aspects of the play, please let me know when you are available.

Ridgeline Project and Science Fair:  Please join us in Room 8 for our annual Science Fair next Thursday, April 20th from 3:30-4:15 or from 6:00-7:00.  Come marvel at the amazing final projects that have come out of the last couple of months of scientific discovery, creativity, organization, hard work and collaboration!

Smarter Balance State Testing:  This week we will be completing the Language Arts assessment with the “performance task” portion.  I have been very impressed with student’s concentration and hard work on the assessment thus far.  Thanks to Niko’s family for the snack donation this week.  If you would like to help us provide “brain food” for the tests, we would love it!  Ideas include crackers, pretzels, cuties, dried fruit, string cheese…
