February 13th

Dear Families,

Parent assistant needed for web class: Lauren Russel, one of our great family volunteers, has offered to teach a web design tutorial for students next Friday, February 27th at 9:30.  She is willing to include up to 15 students and would welcome a parent to sit in and help.  In addition to teaching students about web design and hosting, she is going to help us build a classroom website that we can use for publishing student work.  Lauren will be returning one more time, most likely on March 20th, then we will be off and running.  It would be fantastic to have a “trained” parent volunteer who could help assist us if we come up with questions or need assistance in maintaining our classroom site in the future.  If you are available and interested, please let me know.

Ridgeline Volunteers Needed for Pasta Dinner:  Day and Evening Times! Pasta Dinner Volunteers Needed – Many volunteers are needed to make the Pasta Dinner a successful event. Here is what we need:

1.             Set-Up Crew 8:30-11am, February 20th (4 more volunteers needed) to set up tables & chairs, make garlic butter & salad dressing, slice bread

2.             Bread basket volunteers 3:30-5pm ( 2 volunteers STILL needed) to put bread in baskets and butter on the tables

3.             Servers – 4:30-6pm (3 more volunteers needed)

4.             Clean-Up Crew – 6:30-8pm (6 more volunteers needed)

Please sign up on the Pasta Dinner volunteer sheets on the bulletin board in the foyer or contact Cynthia.

Math Facts Practice:  Remember to take 5 minutes each day to do a few facts that are difficult for your child to answer quickly.  Use flashcards, have your child say or write them, or log into Xtra math.

Environmental Community Outreach- This week, as part of our continuing community service and restoration projects, we traveled to Buford Park to work in their South Meadow.  We had a total of 39 volunteers and were able to plant over 200 trees and shrubs!  We also had a fantastic time hiking to the site in the great weather and learning about the native species of the area and how we can help care for the local ecosystem.  Also this week we planted our seeds that have been in cold stratification for the last month (in the fridge!) into over 30 flats.  We completed the irrigation system set-up for our hoop houses, tucked our flats inside and covered these mini greenhouses with plastic to create the perfect growing environment for our native wildflowers.
