Dear Families,

Shakespeare:  How you can help:

·      Assisting/supervising painting of backdrops/prop creation with small groups

·      Dying muslin red for our Capulets (we have our blue Montague fabric already)- to be done at home (or donating red fabric for costuming)

·      Sewing tunics at home for costume pieces

·      Lending body microphones for the performance

·      Work with your student at home on memorizing lines

Let me know how/when you are available to assist J

Reading Projects:  The deadline for final draft projects has been pushed back until next week in order to allow students more time to create good quality projects that delve deep into the analysis of their book.  Please check in with your student to see if they are on track.

Ridgeline Project and Science Fair:  We had some fantastic projects at our Science Fair this year!  I heard a lot of compliments from the folks who visited our classroom, including two from college professors who mentioned they were impressed by the students’ clear and interesting projects and write-ups.  They both mentioned they wished their college students could look at these for examples.  Yeah Room 8!

UO Science and Invention Fair:  Its not too late to participate!  The 4th annual UO Science and Invention Fair is taking place May 9th.  If your child would like to enter their science fair project plan please register ASAP.  There’s still time and scholarships are available to waive the entrance fee.  Even if your student doesn’t want to enter, there will be lots of fun activity tables during the fair and free workshops.  Here is the schedule for the day:

10:00am - 11:00am - Project check in and set up

11:00am - Fair Officially Opens

11:30am-1:30pm - Judging

2:30pm- 3:15pm - Physics Demonstration

3:15pm - 4:00pm - Awards

You can find out more about the fair at: http://spicescience.uoregon.edu/uo-science-and-invention-fair  or contact Brandy Todd at (541) 346-4313.

Jog-A-Thon is coming! - On Friday May 15th, Ridgeline students will be out running!  Students first grade and older will be running as many 1/8th mile segments of the Rexius Trail as they can in their allotted times.  Kindergarteners will be running 1/12th mile laps in the field on the playground.  We hope everyone will have a great time!  See pledge packets (coming home tomorrow) for details.  If you have questions, please contact Amy Sage (amsage@gmail.com) or Aimee Code 541-232-9767.  Cynthia is coordinating volunteers and supplies for the event and we still need water coolers, boom boxes and tarps.  Let her know if you are able to help.
