Dear Fabulous Families:

Shakespeare help needed: We have been making progress in our study of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. We have discuss plot, characters and background of the play and have read the entire play as a readers theater. Thursday and Friday were auditions and we are now in the process of assigning the cast and beginning practice! We would like to have some parent help with costumes, set design and with practicing the play in small groups. Please let me know where your expertise lies...and don’t be shy, you kids have probably already volunteered you! J Our times are flexible, so let me know what works for you!

OBOB: Woo-Hoo! Our OBOB kids did a fantastic job last weekend at the state finals! Congratulations, all that hard work really paid off! I hope to see even more of our fantastic Room 8 readers take part in OBOB next year!

OAKS testing coming up: Each year Ridgeline students, like all students who attend public schools in Oregon, participate in an online assessment that looks at students’ growth in math, reading and science. Our students will begin OAKS testing the week of April 28th and every student will be done by May 15th. We keep the tests fairly low key, but if your child gets anxious about testing or you would just like to help your child prepare so they can show their best work, you can visit the OAKS practice website at
http://www.oaks.k12.or.us/portal/students/ and choose the Practice Test link. Students can sign in as a guest and work on some practice reading and math activities. They will not get feedback on their answers, unfortunately, but it will help get them familiar with the test and is a good opportunity for you to talk through some problems if you like.

After school math homework club: If your child needs some extra math practice, Ridgeline is now offering an after school math homework club, beginning Monday, April 21st from 3:15 to 4:15. U of O math professor and Ridgeline parent Hayden Harker will be joining forces with Ridgeline parent and instructional interventionist Betsy Brandenfels to help upper el students hone their math skills. Contact Sharon with any questions, or to RSVP:

Thanks for your support of your child and of Ridgeline!
