Monday is Field Day
For Field Day, we will spend several hours on Monday afternoon playing outside games. Consider sending in a sun hat, protective clothing or applying sunscreen to protect your child’s skin. Appropriate shoes will also make the day more fun for your child.

Park Visits Wednesday and Friday
We will be walking to parks twice this week. On Wednesday, we will walk south along Amazon Creek to Frank Kinney Park for a picnic and some cooperative games. On Friday, we’ll celebrate the last day of school with a walk to Tugman Park for outside play and picnicking. Parents are invited to join us! Please let me know if you would like to chaperone.

Biography Projects
Third graders will be sharing their biography projects this week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Some children are opting to present their work “in character.” Dressing up for presentations is optional but fun!

Summer Volunteer Opportunities

Scratch Programming - Would you like your child to learn the basics of computer programming next year? I would! It can happen with a little help from you. I’m in search of a volunteer who can help guide our older students in the use of Scratch, a web-based, visual and easy to use programming language developed by MIT. Previous programming knowledge is not required! Check it out at

Outdoor bench building – We desperately need seating to let us take advantage of our outdoor space. Simple plans can be provided.

Assembling straw looms – Help us prepare for a weaving project next year by threading soda straw looms. It’s much easier than it sounds, and a great way to conveniently log volunteer hours.
