Emily's Weekly Update 5-9-16

Our end of the year peacemaker biography project is picking up steam.  Next week children will select a peacemaker to study.  This should be a person who has experienced some hardships and made the world a more peaceful, equitable, or beautiful place.  Consider having a conversation with your child about any people that you consider peacemaking heroes.  This is a great way to share your values with your child – and you may even inspire them to choose one of your own heroes to research!

We Appreciate You!

A huge thank you to all the families and children who contributed to Teacher Appreciation Week.  We enjoyed all the wonderful treats, the flowers, the chocolate, and the beautifully (and musically) decorated door.  It is a privilege to teach your children and to be part of such a wonderful community.

Emergency Food Pantry

Growing kids have growing appetites.  Many children have been coming to us hungry after their lunch is finished.  Please double check that your child’s lunch is large enough.  This helps us reserve our food pantry stocks for emergencies and for families in need.

 Concert and Picnic June 14th

We are planning a special concert to see off graduating third graders, to welcome upcoming first graders, and to celebrate a year full of joyful singing.  This short concert will be Tuesday, June 14 at 5:30, in the gym.  This coincides with the beginning of the All-School Picnic.  Come listen to the concert, then enjoy picnicking on the lawn.

Science Fair Congratulations

Marshall Edwards tied for first place at the UO Science Fair.  Way to go, Marshall!
