Mark Your Calendar for Folk Songs at the Hult Center
We are partnering with the Eugene Concert Choir’s outreach program to sing “This Land Is Your Land” and “She’ll Be Coming ‘Round the Mountain.” On Thursday, a ECC singer will lead us in some vocal warm ups and teach us about the songs. Students who want to sing on stage with the Eugene Concert Choir can join in the performance of Country Tunes for Kids at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 26th at the Hult Center, Silva Concert Hall. A free performer pass for students and an accompanying adult will be sent home the week of April 15-18. This concert is a tradition for us and it’s always a lot of fun.

 Xtra Math
Second and third graders are practicing math facts using a web-based program called Xtra Math. In homework packets this week, I’m sending home instructions for accessing the program at home. Check out your child’s practice record and see how he or she has progressed over the past few months. You can also see which facts have been mastered and which ones need more work. Kids can also use Xtra Math for practice at home or on weekends.

Our goal is to have second graders fluent with addition and subtraction facts by third grade, and for third graders to move up to fourth grade with fluency in multiplication. This takes work! Please help support your child’s fact memorization at home.

Thank You, Volunteers!
This week we give thanks to all the wonderful volunteers who enrich our students’ experience here, whether behind the scenes or in the classroom. Many thanks to our dance and art volunteers, Rachael Carnes and Sheryl LeBlanc; to John Burridge, for sharing his knowledge of Medieval music; to book club helpers past and present, Rhonda Zimlich-Vazquez, Misenga Scott, Deanna Knobelspiesse, Starr Amrit, and Amy Vosika; to Ken Lancaster for help on Medieval Day and with recess; and to Lingya Liu for reading help. Thanks also to our behind-the-scenes volunteers, Dave Zimlich-Vazquez, Stephanie Edwards, Darlene Colborn, Kristin Matthews, Tina Heidrich and everyone else who has pitched in. You all help make Ridgeline a rich and supportive environment for our children.

Inside Shoes
Please double check that your child has a pair of inside shoes. The playground is quite muddy this spring, so kids without a change of shoes sometimes have to be limited to the paved area at recess.
